BIO

Prior to joining GDMS in 2012, Bigrigg was a Project Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University for over 16 years in a plethora of research areas from reliable systems to pervasive sensors to social network analysis. In his past, he has also worked as a commercial software programmer, developing C/C++ compilers for embedded systems.

He has been teaching for over thirty years. He taught in the Computer Science Department at Pitt from 1995 to 2020, teaching topics ranging from various programming courses, to architecture and compilers, to web systems, and to even the writing intensive course on social implications of technology. He has been teaching in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Pitt since 2021, teaching high-performance computing and embedded systems.

He has taught in the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2003 to 2012, co-teaching the interdisciplinary industry-sponsored project-based "Engineering System Design" course. Also at CMU, since 2014 he has taught in the the Heinz College School of Information Systems and Management, teaching graduate courses at the intersection of technology, business, analytics.

Dr. Bigrigg received his M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D. in Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
